Kitchen Renovation

For any homeowner or tenant, the kitchen and living room are central to the home. Whether you’re going to list your home for sale or upgrading your kitchen as per modern trends, you can’t do just sledge hammering to do something new. It needs proper planning and budgeting to determine a mini makeover or a complete overhaul.

If you are not sure if you can justify having a kitchen designer remodel your kitchen, here are few signs that might just change your mind.

Worktop Space

When you look at your worktops, do you see clutter, too many appliances or storage jars, and not enough space to prepare your food? If the answer is yes, then this is a sure sign that you could do with a makeover in your kitchen. Worktop space is a valuable home improvement need and making sure you can work comfortably is crucial to a well-functioning kitchen.

Inappropriate Position of Kitchen Sink

The positioning of your kitchen sink is an important part of its design. The common practice sees kitchen sinks position in front of a window — ideally a window with a nice view of the property. You won’t want overhead cupboards cramping headspace, either. The sink is a point in the work triangle, so if the position is incorrect, this is a bright red flag that your kitchen needs a change.

Floor Space

A good kitchen layout is all about the ‘work triangle,’ which gives you a clear path between your cooker, sink, and fridge, making life a lot easier. If you often find you are bumping into each other or running from one end of your kitchen to the other, then your ‘work triangle’ is most likely off or non-existent. So in this sort of case, a new layout will allow you the flexibility to create an arrangement that is suited to you.

Cabinet Chaos

Kitchen cabinets are not just about storage; they are the face of your kitchen. If your cupboards and kitchen units are falling apart at the seams and not working properly, then it would suggest that investing in an upgrade would be a good idea.

Lack of Storage Units

Most people will complain that they lack storage in their kitchen, but if all your cupboards and drawers are brimming with food, pots and pans, and appliances, then it is high time that you consider renovating. Modern kitchens have savvy storage, which means even the most modest kitchens can still keep everything tucked away nicely. Kitchen short in storage units is also a sign of renovation requirement.

Having a nice level floor that is easy to clean in your kitchen is essential. The last thing you want is to trip over a bump or torn lino while carrying a culinary delight or have to spend hours breaking your back to scrub it. So putting some thought into sorting out the floor is incredibly valuable, and would also suggest you may want to expand to the rest of the room so it all ties together.

Kitchen Monotony

Every time you step into your kitchen, do you feel bored and loathe spending time in there? If so, then it is high time you thought about renovating. Looking and cooking in the same old tired kitchen every day is going to drive anyone mad and potentially affect your interest in cooking too. Updating an old kitchen will make such a difference and make it a wonderful place to spend time in.

If any of the above signs gives you a ring true, then you should start measuring up and thinking about giving your kitchen a makeover.
